1. Who we are and what these terms cover

KungFuMoney is a household personal-finance application operated by Vitalii Mashchenko, an individual entrepreneur (фізична особа-підприємець, “ФОП”) registered in Ukraine. In this document, “we”, “us”, and “KungFuMoney” refer to this sole proprietorship.

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of KungFuMoney’s website, application, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). They form a binding agreement between you and us when you create an account.

Your privacy is governed by a separate document — the Privacy Policy — which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. The list of our service providers is published at /subprocessors.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not create an account or use the Service.

2. Account, eligibility, and authentication

2.1 Eligibility

To use KungFuMoney, you must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent in your country of residence — whichever is higher. We do not knowingly provide the Service to anyone under that age.

You must have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract under the law of your country of residence.

2.2 Authentication

We provide sign-in through Google and Apple. We do not store passwords; authentication is delegated to these providers. By signing in, you confirm that you control the email address associated with your Google or Apple account, and that you are using it consistently with the terms of those providers.

2.3 One account per person

You may hold one personal account. You may be a bookmate of as many shared books as you choose. You may not create multiple accounts to circumvent subscription limits or any other restriction in these Terms.

2.4 Account security

You are responsible for protecting access to your Google or Apple account, since whoever can sign in there can sign in to KungFuMoney. Notify us at support@kungfumoney.app if you believe your account has been accessed without your authorization.

3. What KungFuMoney does

KungFuMoney is a household personal-finance tool. You can:

  • Record financial accounts, transactions, and goals across multiple currencies
  • Share a “household book” with one or more bookmates so you can keep a single household view of money
  • Import transactions from CSV files and export your data as CSV at any time
  • See trends, balances, and goal progress across all your accounts and currencies

KungFuMoney is not a bank, broker, payment service, investment adviser, tax adviser, or financial planner. We do not hold your money. We do not move money on your behalf. We do not have access to your bank accounts. The numbers you see in the app are the numbers you (or your bookmates) entered.

The Service is provided as a tool for organizing your own financial records. Nothing in the Service constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Decisions about your money remain your responsibility.

4. Trial, subscription, and pricing

4.1 The 30-day free trial

When you create an account, you start a 30-day free trial with full read-write access to all features. We do not ask for a payment method to start the trial. The trial begins on the day you create your account and ends 30 days later.

We will send you reminder emails during the trial, including a notice approximately three days before it ends.

4.2 After the trial

If you do not subscribe before the trial ends, your account is not deleted. You retain read-only access to all the books, accounts, transactions, and goals you created during the trial. You can also continue to export your data as CSV at any time. To regain write access, you can subscribe yourself, or — see section 4.3 — receive write access through a bookmate’s subscription.

4.3 How premium access works in shared books

Premium access is evaluated per book, not per user. A book is in premium state if at least one of its bookmates has an active subscription. When a book is in premium state, all bookmates of that book have full read-write access to it, regardless of whether each individual bookmate is paying.

If no bookmate of a book has an active subscription, the book is in read-only state for everyone, and remains that way until any bookmate subscribes. Books do not lose data when they enter read-only state; existing data remains intact and exportable, and writes resume once subscription is restored.

4.4 Pricing

Current subscription pricing — including monthly and annual plans, applicable taxes, and any regional pricing — is shown on our website at the point of subscription. We may change pricing from time to time. Where a change affects an existing subscription, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect on your next renewal, and you may cancel before the renewal if you do not accept the new price.

4.5 Billing and our Merchant of Record

Subscriptions are sold through Paddle.com Market Ltd (“Paddle”), our Merchant of Record. When you subscribe, you are entering into a payment contract with Paddle for the transaction itself, while your service contract for the use of KungFuMoney is with us under these Terms. Paddle is responsible for billing, payment processing, tax collection and remittance, and invoicing. Their terms apply to the payment transaction and are available on Paddle’s website.

We never see or store your card number. We retain a record of the transaction (amount, currency, date, billing email, VAT region) to keep our own accounting books, as required by Ukrainian tax law.

4.6 Automatic renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual, depending on the plan you chose) until you cancel. The amount and date of the next renewal are visible inside the app and in the order confirmation email Paddle sends after each charge.

4.7 Cancellation

You can cancel at any time from inside the app, on the subscription management page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid period — you keep access to paid features until then. After the paid period ends, your account transitions to read-only access (see section 4.2). Your data is not deleted on cancellation. To delete your account entirely, follow the steps in section 8.

4.8 Failed payments and grace period

If a renewal payment fails, we will give you 7 days of continued write access while we and Paddle attempt to recover the payment. During this period, we will email you about the failed payment and provide a link to update your card. If the payment is not recovered within 7 days, the book(s) drop to read-only access until you update your payment method. No data is lost during this transition.

5. Your right to withdraw and our refund policy

5.1 Right of withdrawal (EU and UK consumers)

If you are a consumer based in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have a statutory right to withdraw from your first paid subscription within 14 days of the start of the paid period, for any reason. To exercise this right, email us at support@kungfumoney.app within that 14-day window. We will process the refund through Paddle and the funds will be returned to your original payment method, typically within 5–10 business days.

This right of withdrawal applies to the first paid period only, not to subsequent renewals. The 30-day free trial does not count toward the 14-day withdrawal period — the 14 days are measured from the start of the paid subscription, not from your initial signup.

5.2 Refunds outside the 14-day window

Outside the statutory withdrawal window, refunds are at our discretion. We will consider refund requests in good faith on a case-by-case basis. For example, if you cancel mid-way through an annual subscription, we will generally offer a pro-rated refund of the unused months on request. Refund requests should be sent to support@kungfumoney.app.

5.3 Non-derogable consumer rights

Nothing in this section limits any consumer right that cannot be waived under the law of your country of residence. If your local law gives you a more generous refund right than this section provides, that local law applies.

5.4 How refunds are processed

KungFuMoney is sold through Paddle.com Market Ltd, our Merchant of Record. When we approve a refund, Paddle processes it back to the original payment method. We never see or store your card number. If you have a question about the timing or destination of a refund, contact us first at support@kungfumoney.app — we will work with Paddle on your behalf if needed.

5.5 What happens to your data after a refund

A refund does not delete your account. After a refund, your account transitions to read-only access — you keep access to all your data, can export everything as CSV from your profile, and can re-subscribe at any time.

6. Your responsibilities and prohibited conduct

6.1 The data you enter is your data

The financial information you enter into KungFuMoney is your data. You decide what to record, how to categorize it, and who to share it with. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter; we do not validate it against any external source.

6.2 What you must not do

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, including to track or store financial activity that you do not have a legal right to record
  • Use the Service to launder money, evade taxes, or facilitate any other financial crime
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the application beyond what is permitted under applicable law
  • Access the Service through automated means (scraping, scripting, headless browser automation) other than the public API endpoints we explicitly document
  • Attempt to access another user’s account or data without authorization
  • Interfere with the Service’s operation, including by submitting deliberately malformed inputs, attempting to overload our servers, or probing for vulnerabilities outside a responsible-disclosure process
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute access to the Service
  • Use the Service in a way that violates the terms of Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, Paddle, or any other third-party service that KungFuMoney depends on (see /subprocessors)

6.3 Shared books and other bookmates

When you invite someone to a shared book, or when someone invites you, the other bookmates can see the contents of that book — accounts attached to the book, transactions in the book, and goals attached to the book — and your name. You are responsible for choosing who you share with. We do not mediate disputes between bookmates.

If a shared book contains data that one bookmate believes another has entered improperly, the bookmates should resolve it between themselves. We can help with technical questions about the app, but we will not adjudicate financial disagreements between bookmates.

6.4 Reporting security issues

If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it confidentially to support@kungfumoney.app. We will respond within a few business days, work with you to fix the issue, and acknowledge your contribution publicly if you wish.

7. Intellectual property and licenses

7.1 The Service

KungFuMoney, including its software, design, brand assets, copy, documentation, and the underlying database schema, is owned by Vitalii Mashchenko. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for its intended purpose during the term of your account. This license does not transfer ownership of anything.

7.2 Your content

The data you enter into KungFuMoney remains yours. We do not claim ownership of your accounts, transactions, goals, or any other financial information you record. We require only the technical license needed to operate the Service for you — storing the data, displaying it back to you, syncing it across your devices, sharing it with the bookmates you invite, and including it in exports you generate.

We do not use your financial data to train machine-learning models. We do not sell your data. We do not share your financial data with third parties beyond the service providers listed at /subprocessors, and only to the extent each provider needs to deliver its service.

7.3 Feedback

If you send us suggestions, ideas, or feedback about the Service, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free license to use them without restriction or obligation to you. We will not identify you as the source of feedback in any public communication unless you specifically ask us to.

8. Termination and deletion

8.1 By you

You can stop using KungFuMoney at any time. To merely stop paying, see section 4.7. To delete your account and all your data, go to Profile → Delete my profile in the app, agree to the warning, and submit. Your account will be scheduled for permanent deletion 7 days from that moment. Signing in again during those 7 days cancels the deletion.

Deletion is described in detail in section 7 of the Privacy Policy.

8.2 By us

We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms — for example, by engaging in any of the prohibited conduct in section 6.2. In most cases we will contact you first and give you a reasonable opportunity to fix the problem. Where the breach is serious (such as fraud, abuse of the Service, or activity that puts other users at risk), we may suspend access immediately.

If we terminate your account for breach, you remain entitled to export your data and we will provide a reasonable opportunity to do so unless the breach itself involves the data export mechanism.

8.3 What survives termination

After termination, the following provisions survive: section 4.5 (Paddle relationship for past transactions), section 5 (refunds), section 7 (intellectual property), section 9 (warranties and liability), section 10 (governing law and dispute resolution), and any other clause that by its nature is intended to survive.

8.4 Discontinuation of the Service

If we decide to discontinue KungFuMoney as a whole — for any reason — we will give all active users at least 60 days’ notice by email. During that notice period, you will continue to have full read-write access (regardless of subscription state) and can export all your data. After the discontinuation date, the Service will no longer be available.

9. Warranties, disclaimers, and limitation of liability

9.1 What we promise

We will provide the Service with reasonable skill and care, and we will make commercially reasonable efforts to keep it available and to fix bugs that affect you. We will treat your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

9.2 What we do not promise

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times
  • The calculations the app performs (balances, goal ETAs, currency conversions, statistics) will be free of bugs or perfectly accurate in every edge case
  • Exchange rates used in multi-currency views will reflect the rate any specific institution would apply to a specific transaction
  • The Service will meet every specific requirement you may have

You are responsible for keeping your own records and for verifying any number that has real-world financial consequences. KungFuMoney is a tool for personal organization, not an authoritative ledger.

9.3 Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability to you in connection with the Service in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in subscription fees during that 12-month period. We are not liable for:

  • Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, revenue, or business opportunity
  • Loss of data, except to the extent we caused it through gross negligence or wilful misconduct (and even then only as required by applicable law)
  • Decisions you made based on what you saw in the app

9.4 Consumer rights are not limited

Nothing in this section limits any right you have under the law of your country of residence that cannot be waived by contract. If you are a consumer in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with mandatory consumer-protection law, your statutory rights apply regardless of anything in this section.

9.5 Third-party services

KungFuMoney depends on third-party services (Google, Apple, Paddle, OVHcloud, and others — see /subprocessors). We do our best to choose reliable providers, but we are not responsible for outages, errors, or policy changes by those providers. If a third-party service becomes unavailable, we will make reasonable efforts to switch to an alternative.

10. Governing law and dispute resolution

10.1 Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of Ukraine, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The choice of Ukrainian law does not deprive you of any mandatory protection you have under the law of your country of residence, including consumer-protection law.

10.2 EU and UK consumers

If you are a consumer based in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also benefit from the mandatory consumer-protection provisions of the law of your country of residence. Where those provisions conflict with these Terms, the local consumer-protection law prevails for you.

10.3 Dispute resolution

If you have a complaint, please contact us first at support@kungfumoney.app. We will respond promptly and try to resolve the issue directly. Most disputes can be settled this way.

If we cannot resolve the matter informally:

  • EU consumers may use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr/ as an alternative to court proceedings.
  • UK consumers may use any alternative dispute resolution scheme available under UK consumer law.
  • All users may bring proceedings in the competent court of Ukraine. EU and UK consumers retain the right to bring proceedings in the courts of their country of residence under applicable consumer-protection law.

10.4 Jurisdiction

Subject to section 10.2 and section 10.3, the courts of Ukraine have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make a material change, we will:

  • Update the Last updated date at the top of this page
  • Notify you by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect, where the change materially affects your rights or obligations
  • Continue to honor your existing subscription on its existing terms for the remainder of its current period, if a change reduces the Service or imposes new restrictions

For non-material changes — clarifications, fixes to typos, links to updated subprocessor lists — we may update the document without prior notice, but the Last updated date will reflect the change.

If you do not agree to a material change, you may cancel your subscription before the change takes effect and request a pro-rated refund of any unused portion of a pre-paid annual plan.

12. Miscellaneous

12.1 Entire agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Subprocessor list, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.

12.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest of the Terms remain in effect. The unenforceable provision will be replaced by the enforceable provision that comes closest to its original intent.

12.3 No waiver

If we do not enforce a right under these Terms, that is not a waiver of the right. We may still enforce it later.

12.4 Assignment

You may not assign these Terms or your account to anyone else without our prior consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets — in which case we will notify you in advance and you will retain the same rights you have under these Terms.

12.5 Language

These Terms are published in English. We may publish translations into Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, or other languages for convenience. In the event of any conflict between the English version and a translation, the English version prevails — except where local law requires otherwise for consumers in a specific country.

12.6 Notices to us

For any formal notice under these Terms, write to supporta@kungfumoney.app. For privacy-specific matters, use privacy@kungfumoney.app (see the Privacy Policy for details).

12.7 Notices to you

We will send notices to you at the email address associated with your account. It is your responsibility to keep that address current. If we send a notice to the address on file and it bounces, the notice is still considered delivered.
